Treatment Consent Policy

Our therapists are highly trained to provide you with quality care.

It is important to be aware that the therapists at AcuBalance are NOT general practitioners and whilst have adequate training, qualifications and knowledge as a therapist, no therapists at AcuBalance can diagnose or treat a specific illness or practice general medicine.

Benefits and risks: Therapists in this practice will discuss your condition and options for treatment with you so that you are appropriately informed and can make decisions relating to treatment.

You may choose to consent or refuse any form of treatment for any reason including religious or personal grounds.

Once you have given consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time, by clearly talking with your therapist.

You have the right to see the therapist of your choice.

Therapists have the right to refuse to provide a service where there are reasonable and non-discriminatory reasons for doing so.

During treatment policy

Questions of a personal nature: Your therapist may ask personal questions relating to your injury and how your injury impacts on your ‘activities of daily living’.

The more information you provide, the more likely it is that the therapist can provide an effective treatment.

It is your choice as to what information you choose to provide.

If you feel uncomfortable with a particular question or group of questions, please let the therapist know and they will cease.

Physical contact: During the examination, assessment and treatment it may be necessary for your therapist to make physical contact.

Your therapist will ask your permission before making physical contact in any way.

Wherever possible, contact will be made using a towel or other forms of screening.

Physical contact requires your express consent.

You may withdraw consent at any time at which point, all physical contact will cease immediately.

Please inform your therapist if you feel uncomfortable at any time.

Contracted Therapist Policy

In order to provide extended operating hours, the owner contracts services to other therapists listed on the website.

The AcuBalance team of therapists are qualified, insured and registered with the Australian government (AHPRA).

The therapists have been carefully selected as a results of their competence, skill set and knowledge base.

As practitioners are self employed and contract their skills to AcuBalance, the owner generally does not provide guidance in the treatment sessions.

Your sessions are private and the owner respectfully refrains from seeking further information about each session from practitioners.

However, reception may send a general follow up message to check in with you. Additionally, if requested, the owner is available to provide a second opinion.

The owner welcomes any feedback.

Our goal is to ensure you have received a great consistent service every time you attend AcuBalance.

Did you know?

Acupuncture is an Australian government regulated industry
  • Acupuncture is a regulated medical profession in Australia.
  • All acupuncturists maintain their knowledge once qualified with yearly minimum study requirements.
  • Acupuncture can be claimed on Private Health insurance
  • Acupuncture is an option for Work Cover rehabilitation
Medical advice must be personalised

Being a regulated industry, all advice must be personalised. As a result, information on our website is generic and we look forward to going further into detail with you during your appointment.

  • Our professional therapists can advise you.
  • Being a registered health profession: Acupuncture clinics in Australia are unable to publish reviews or testimonials of acupuncture.
  • It is our professional duty to disclose that all results from acupuncture are individual and unique.
  • With thousands of acupuncture clinical trials published the evidence for acupuncture treating specific conditions varies depending on the condition.
Treatment plans and referrals to other professionals

In certain circumstances referral to other practitioners will be most appropriate for your condition and we will always advise this during your consultation.

When in our professional care, our knowledge and years of clinical experiences, guides us on approximately how many treatments you will require and we will be able to gauge if Acupuncture is appropriate for you.

Every treatment we will evaluate our treatment care schedule with you.

Is Acupuncture right for you?

If you are unsure if acupuncture is suitable for your condition, we welcome your inquiry.

Chinese medicine is generally considered to be safe but occasionally (as with all health treatments) may be associated with possible adverse reactions in individual cases.

Acupuncture is considered non-invasive procedure. If unsure, we recommend you seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
